Croatian coach Krunoslav Jurcic, head coach of Pyramids FC, reflected on his team’s 2–0 defeat to Brazilian giants Flamengo in the FIFA Challenger Cup clash of the Intercontinental Cup 2025.
Speaking to beIN Sports News, Jurcic praised his players’ performance despite the loss, indicating to the quality of the opposition.
“We played a good match against a very big team,” he said. “Flamengo were excellent and extremely well organized.”
The Pyramids coach highlighted his side’s attacking approach throughout the game.
“We tried throughout the match to score goals, we missed more than one opportunity, but they scored goals from set pieces, and this happens naturally in football.” Jurcic explained.
Pyramids’ defeat means the Egyptian side missed out on the FIFA Challenger Cup title and a place in the Intercontinental Cup final, where Paris Saint-Germain, the European champions, await.
