Nigerian striker Arokodare scored a dramatic late equaliser for Wolverhampton Wanderers away at Arsenal, but his goal ultimately proved insufficient as the Gunners snatched victory deep into stoppage time at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal appeared to be on course for a narrow 1–0 home win after taking the lead in the 70th minute in fortunate circumstances. Bukayo Saka’s corner kick struck the post, rebounded off Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, and crossed the line for an own goal.
As the match entered its closing moments, the scoreline still favored Arsenal, but Wolves found a lifeline in the 90th minute. Arokodare powered home a header in the penalty area, leveling the score and stunning the home crowd.
However, Arsenal responded immediately and refused to settle for a draw. In the 94th minute, Wolves defender Mosquera inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, handing Arsenal a dramatic late winner and condemning Wolves to narrow defeat.
Despite the disappointment, Arokodare’s goal stood out as a positive moment for Wolves, who managed to score at the Emirates in a dramatic finale.
With the win, Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table with 36 points, holding a five-point lead over Manchester City, who face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers remain bottom of the standings with just two points, as their struggles continue despite moments of late hope.
