World Cup: “Germany friendly will be a great test for Ghana” – Otto Addo

Ghana will begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup with a preparatory exercise against Germany in an international friendly on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Stuttgart.

The friendly will be a reunion for Ghana coach Otto Addo who spent his entire playing career in the European nation. The 50-year-old equally understudied at former clubs, Hamburger SV and Borussia Dortmund after his coaching lessons.

Ghana qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after topping Group I with 25 points and the 2010 quarter finalists have been paired against Panama, England and Croatia in Group L for the tournament to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann said, “We are very much looking forward to the clash with Otto’s team. Their strong transition play can give us a taste of what to expect in the World Cup group match against Ivory Coast.”

Black Stars Coach Otto Addo is also looking ahead to the match: “This is an amazing opportunity for us to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world. Germany are a good side, and we can’t wait to face them in Stuttgart.”

The four-time African champions have had three previous clashes against Germany in 1993 where the former champions won 6–1 in a friendly.

Ghana and Germany met at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with the Europeans claiming a 1–0 group stage win, while their second group-stage meeting at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil ended in a 2–2 draw.

The match is scheduled for an 8:45 pm kickoff on Monday, March 30, 2026.
