Mady Camara came off the bench to complete the scoring as Greek giants PAOK defeated second tier side GS Marko 4-1 on Wednesday in the Greek Cup.
The Guinea national team midfielder curled in an excellent first-time strike late on in a routine victory for the Greek Super League side, who have qualified for the Greek Cup’s Round of 16 where they will host fellow Super League side Atromitos on January 6. Currently the subject of transfer rumors, Camara has been getting more playing time in the cup as well as the UEFA Europa League while playing more of a substitute role in league matches.
It was only the second goal of the season for the powerful former Olympiacos star, who produced ten goals in all competitions last season as PAOK finished third behind Olympiacos and Panathinaikos. Injuries, multiple capable options in the midfield and increasing interest from clubs outside the country continue to limit Camara’s role and impact this season.
Greek media indicates that interest is being shown from French Ligue 1 club Nantes. The Ligue 1 strugglers, currently in the relegation zone, reportedly do not have the money to sign Camara on a permanent transfer and are looking for a loan move to boost their squad.
A transfer may be the best move for the Guinean, who did have a brief spell on loan at Serie A club AS Roma from Olympiacos during the 2022-23 season. Camara, now 28-years-old, was missing in action for Guinea during most of 2026 World Cup qualifying due to injury and has not represented his nation since March earlier this year.
