Botswana coach Ramoreboli makes AFCON declaration

With the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to roar into action on Sunday, Botswana’s coach Morena Ramoreboli has made a declaration.

The Southern African side has been camping in Tunisia to acclimatize to the North Africa weather ahead of the tournament next door in Morocco.

Botswana wound up their AFCON dress rehearsal with a practice match against Tunisia on Thursday. The visitors lost the game 2-1 to the former African champions on Thursday. However, that did not bother Ramoreboli much

What Ramoreboli declared ahead of AFCON

The South African told the Botswana Football Association that he was impressed with what he saw.

“We have achieved our objective. The first thing was to make sure we come here to build a team that will represent us well at the Africa Cup of Nations,” he said.

“We have done that in terms of preparations and I believe that we are waiting for the first match to try and do our best.”

Who scored for Botswana against Tunisia?

Tumisang Orebonye scored Botswana’s only goal in the match, an effort the former Jwaneng Galaxy manager liked.

“If you look at how we performed. We scored a goal immediately after half- time… we kept the same team…we scored a beautiful team-goal, which I think comes from training. It is something that makes me happy,” Ramoreboli said.

“Every player we brought got the minutes, and also they are ready for the tournament. They understand what is expected of them.”

Botswana will kickstart their AFCON journey with a clash against Senegal on Tuesday in Group D. The group also comprises Benin and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
