Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has set sight on becoming a core member of Ghana’s senior men’s team rather than just adding up to the numbers under coach Otto Addo.

Thomas-Asante, who made 72 appearances for West Bromwich Albion before joining Coventry City in 2024, earned his first Ghana cap in October last year, going on to make seven appearances with a goal under his belt.

The 25-year-old says he is bent on making significant contributions to the four time African champions who have qualified for their fifth FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico in June 2026.

Thomas-Asante wants to contribute goals and assists

“For me, I want to be successful with the Black Stars. I don’t just want to be a squad player; I want to contribute goals, assists, and help this nation win trophies. We know the expectations are high, and we’re ready to meet them,” he told PFA.

Thomas-Asante, who is currently nursing an injury, has played 17 times for Coventry City in the current English Championship campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists.

Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco but managed to book a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup where they are paired against Panama, England and Croatia.
