Zamalek edge Haras El Hodoud with late winner in League Cup clash

Zamalek secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Haras El Hodoud on Saturday evening in the Egyptian League Cup (Capital Cup), thanks to a stoppage-time winner at the Arab Contractors Stadium.

The White Knights took the lead early in the 16th minute when Bezerra delivered a corner kick that was met by Amr Nasser’s header, finding the back of the net.

Haras El Hodoud responded well and managed to punish Zamalek in the 37th minute through Mohamed Bayoumi, who scored the equaliser to level the match at 1-1.

As the match appeared to be heading for a draw, Zamalek snatched a last-gasp winner in the ninth minute of added time. Bezerra once again played the key role, sending in a free-kick cross from the edge of the area, which Nasser Mansi headed home to seal a late victory.

The win marks Zamalek’s first triumph in this season’s Egyptian League Cup, after drawing their opening group-stage match against Ismailia Electricity.
