AFCON: Comoros coach Stefano Cusin previews Zambia fixture

Comoros national team head coach Stefano Cusin has revealed their readiness to take on Zambia, a side he labelled strong side, in their matchday two of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco on Thursday.

The fixture at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca comes after secured a valuable 1-1 draw against Mali, while Comoros lost their opener 2-0 against hosts Morocco.

Aware that only a win will keep their qualification ambitions firmly intact, the Islanders know this encounter carries a decisive edge for their campaign. Speaking ahead of the fixture, Cusin stated they have prepared extremely well to face the Chipolopolo.

Comoros determined to succeed against Zambia

“The match against Zambia is extremely important. We will be facing a team with high-quality attackers. We have prepared well, and our approach will be adapted to our opponent’s style of play,” Cusin told CAFOnline.com.

“This match means a lot to us, and we will do everything we can to win. Zambia are a strong side, but we are determined to succeed and are working hard toward that goal.”

Speaking on behalf of the players, Myzian Maolida said: “Our match against Zambia is very important, and we are ready for it. Our preparations have focused heavily on the tactical side in order to secure the points. There are no secrets—we will play with great determination to win this game.”

Zambia and Comoros have met seven times in international football. Zambia have won four of those encounters, Comoros have recorded two victories, and one match ended in a draw.
