Medeama forward Abdul Salam under pressure to score more goals

Medeama SC forward, Abdul Salam says pressure sets in among the attackers when they fail to score goals in the Ghana Premier League.

The 23-year-old has managed to score three goals in 13 appearances for the Mauve and Yellow who sit in third on 26 points, two behind joint leaders Aduana and Hearts of Oak with an outstanding game against reigning champions GoldStars to clear.

The ebony black attacker took some time off the club’s busy training schedules to share some words ahead of their week 16 fixture against Heart of Lions at the Kpando Stadium on Saturday.

“Honestly there is pressure because everybody is counting on the attackers to score goals to help propel the club to dizzy heights so if the goals are not coming then the pressure mounts on the attackers,” Abdul Salam told MEDi TV.

Abdul Salam however expressed confidence that they will fight to claim three or at least a point at Heart of Lions.

“Our target is to claim all three points or at least one against Heart of Lions and so that is our mindset ahead of the game.

Medeama have collected seven wins and six draws with one loss with the Heart of Lions encounter seen as a tough test in their bid to stay in the top four.

The match week 16 began on a good note for Hearts of Oak who managed to squeeze a 1-0 win past Samartex at the Legon Sports Stadium on Friday. The remaining games continue on Saturday and Sunday.
