Hearts of Oak’s reliable defender, Kelvin Osei Asibey has described their 1-0 win over Samartex in the week 16 Ghana Premier League as “important to the players and the fans.”
The Phobians produced a lackluster performance but managed to weave around the former Ghana champions through striker Hamza Issah’s solitary strike in the first half.
Osei Asibey, who was adjudged Man-of-the-Match after the game, spoke to the media about the importance of chalking two consecutive home victories.
“It was important to us the players and also to our supporters because our game against Aduana we were supposed to win that game but we couldn’t win the game so coming into this game we have to do something to make our supporters happy,” Kelvin Osei Asibe said after the game.
The 25-year-old has featured 13 times for the record FA Cup winners but is yet to register a goal with one match to end the first half of the season.
Hearts of Oak per the win over Samartex have collected two consecutive home victories after nailing Nations FC by 1-0 in week 14.
The 2004 CAF Confederation Cup winners have recorded seven victories, seven draws with two losses as Hearts of Oak sit in second on the league table with 28 points, same as Aduana FC.
They will conclude the first half of the season with a trip to another title contenders, Medeama in week 17 at the Tarkwa TnA Park on Sunday, January 4 at 3:00 GMT.
