Asante Kotoko demolished Bechem United by 6-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi during Sunday’s Week 16 action from the Ghana Premier League.

It was Bechem United who stepped up early in the game with Derrick Afriyie, whose strike was however parried for a corner kick by Porcupines keeper Mohamed Camara in the 6th minute.
Three minutes after Bechem United’s failed attack, the hosts shot themselves ahead through Morifing Donzo’s easy tap-in from Philip Amoh’s low cross in the 9th minute.
Bechem United looked better on the ball from then on but Kotoko created clear cut scoring chances which paid off fourteen minutes after the opener.
A quick corner kick saw Peter Amidu Acquah float in a beautiful ball where Samba O’Neil’s header deflected the body of Bechem United defender, Emmanuel Ampiah for Kotoko’s second goal in the 23rd minute.
Morifing Donzo doubled his tally after latching on to a perfect pass from Peter Amidu Acquah to round off Bechem United goalkeeper Benjamin Asiedu before calmly scoring the third goal in the 40th minute.
Bechem United came up with a beautiful free kick to pull one back but Augustine Okrah’s effort was denied by the woodwork three minutes after Kotoko’s third goal to ending the first half.
The hosts’ second half performance went a notch higher and with ten minutes played, Morifing Donzo located Hubert Gyau who scored from Bechem United’s penalty area to send the record Premier League holders 4-0 up in the 53rd minute.
Kotoko’s incessant pressure forced Bechem United keeper Benjamin Asiedu to spill Peter Amidu Acquah’s cross with substitute Johnson Owusu scrambling in the fifth goal in the 60th minute.
The two-time African champions continued their onslaught when Kwame Opoku climbed off the bench to slot in Peter Amidu Acquah’s pass for their sixth goal in the 84th minute.
Coach Karim Zito’s charges have now recorded three consecutive victories against Dreams FC, Eleven Wonders and Bechem United.
The big win puts the Porcupines in second on the league table on 30 points, same as Medeama SC with a game to end the first half of the season. Bechem United are rooted in 16th place with 16 points.
