The Volta region of Ghana will witness a new local derby when Hohoe United host Heart of Lions in the final game of the first half of the season on Friday, January 2.
Both clubs come into the game with several bruises from their previous games where Hohoe United have incurred three straight losses against Basake Holy Stars, GoldStars and Berekum Chelsea.
Heart of Lions on the other hand are yet to taste a win in as many as four matches, making their away trip to Hohoe a nervy one.
Head coach of Hohoe United, Tijan Bashiru has talked about team preparation ahead of the game at the Hohoe Stadium.
“What I can say is the preparation is going on and we are playing a team that has a similar problem like us, we all lost in our last three games so that should tell you how difficult this encounter may be,” Tijani Bashiru told Hohoe United TV.
The former assistant coach of Hearts of Oak believes that the home advantage will play a key part in them claiming all three points.
“But we are playing at home and we have the mentality to win here so we have to work very hard for that especially when it comes to all aspects of the game we have to improve in the scoring aspect as well because we are creating chances but to finish it is a problem
“Now that we have all our squad members, they won’t find it easy, I know we are going to give them a tough game here and we will try as much as possible to get all the three points.”
Hohoe United have collected 17 points same as Dreams FC from 16 matches and are sitting in 16th on the league table, one point below the relegation zone.
