Malawian Njaliwa says goodbye to Mozambique’s Costa do Sol

Malawian midfielder Lloyd Njaliwa has confirmed that he has parted ways with Costa do Sol in Mozambique to join Zimbabwe’s Caps United.

In a statement, the Flames star confirmed his switch to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit after ending his three-year adventure with the Maputo-based side.

“I am writing to inform you that, with a great deal of sentiment, I will be departing Costa do Sol after three years,” Njaliwa wrote.

The midfielder, whose parent club is the Malawi Defence Force-side Moyale Barracks, shared his experience of playing in Mocambola League in the former Portuguese colony.

“The experience of adapting to a new language, environment, culture, and food in Mozambique has been truly remarkable. During my time in Maputo, I have found my stay to be incredibly captivating, and the memories will be cherished forever,” Njaliwa added.

“As I embark on the next phase of my career, I am assured that this exceptional club will remain an integral part of me, regardless of wherever I will be. Obrigado Costa do Sol.”

Who else has joined Caps United?

Njaliwa is among 11 new recruits at Caps United alongside compatriot Chawanangwa Kaonga who joined from ZANACO FC in Zambia. The Harare-based club unveiled all the new arrivals on Thursday during an induction ceremony.

Caps United hired new coach Takesure Chiragwi recently to replace Ian Bakala who is now his deputy. Chiragwi was initially supposed to take over the Castle Lager PSL’s sleeping giants last season. However, he was still contracted to Ngezi Platinum FC.
