AFCON: Mbeumo, Tolo react to Cameroon’s loss to Morocco

Cameroon captain Nouhou Tolo has picked some valuable lessons despite their exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The five time African champions suffered a 2-0 loss against the hosts with a goal each by Brahim Diaz and Ismail Saibari in the 26th and the 74th minutes respectively at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

Tolo, 28, who plies his trade in the Major League Soccer with Seattle Sounders believes the current Cameroon squad has a great future.

“I am happy about the group, I am happy about what we did tonight so we are just going to move forward to our club and work hard,” Nouhou Tolo said at the mixed zone.

President of the Cameroon Football Federation [FECAFOOT], Samuel Eto’o gave a resounding pep talk to the players despite their exit and Nouhou Tolo gave rave reviews about Eto’o’s gesture.

“It’s better for the Cameroon league, there have been a lot of positives in the locker room and we just appreciate whatever he did for us.”

Manchester United forward, Bryan Mbeumo spent a few moments to share some words on the team’s performance and the future of the squad.

“I think I am really proud about the team from every game [and] I think stepped up in each game from the first one to this one and the guys gave everything in every game and I think it is a talented group, young group as well so it’s positive for the future,” Bryan Mbeumo said.

Cameroon began the group phase with a 1-0 win over Gabon before producing a 1-1 draw against defending champions Ivory Coast and a 2-1 win over Mozambique.
