Egypt and Nigeria have become the most successful national teams in Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) history in terms of reaching the semi-finals, after both secured their places among the last four of the 2025 edition.
Egypt qualified for the 2025 edition semi-finals following a 3-2 victory over Ivory Coast on Saturday evening, while Nigeria booked their spot earlier the same day with a 2-0 win against Algeria in the quarter-finals.
With these results, both Egypt and Nigeria have now reached the AFCON semi-finals for the 17th time in their history, a record that puts them joint-top on the list of the most frequent semi-finalists in the competition history.
In the 2025 edition semi-finals, Egypt will face Senegal, while Nigeria are set to clash with host nation Morocco. Both matches will be played on Wednesday, January 14.
