Siwelele confirm Magidigidi on verge of European switch

One of the brightest sparks in the Betway Premiership is set to trade the City of Roses for the heart of Europe. Siwelele FC have officially confirmed they are in advanced negotiations with Belgian First Division side K. Beerschot V.A. for the transfer of their 20-year-old sensation, Siviwe Magidigidi.

The young attacker, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise since being promoted from the club’s reserve ranks when they were still known as SuperSport United at the start of the season, has become the subject of an intense bidding war that began in late 2025.

Ambition Meets Opportunity For Magidigidi

Speaking on the potential move, Siwelele CEO Lerato Kholoanyane revealed that the club initially played hardball to protect the player’s market value. An opening bid from the Belgian outfit was flatly rejected last year for failing to meet the club’s valuation.

However, a massive breakthrough occurred when Beerschot returned to the table with a significantly improved package.

“K. Beerschot first approached us late last year, but their offer at the time did not reflect the value that Magidigidi has brought to our club,” Kholoanyane stated. “When Beerschot significantly improved their offer, more than doubling their initial one, the deal became acceptable and aligned with the best interests of Siwelele FC.”

A Short but Impactful Legacy

Magidigidi’s departure, while a blow to Siwelele’s tactical plans, comes as no surprise given his prolific form. In just 12 league appearances, the striker has racked up four goals and an assist, establishing himself as one of the most clinical young finishers in South African football.

The CEO acknowledged the emotional weight of the move for the Bloemfontein faithful:

“We fully appreciate the fans Magidigidi has earned among the Siwelele faithful. Regardless of the outcome, he will forever be part of our story. He has been a foundational player in our maiden campaign.”

While the paperwork is still being finalised, the club is already looking forward to seeing their academy product test himself against international opposition. Kholoanyane concluded with a playful warning for Magidigidi’s future opponents in Europe.

“We have no doubt that Belgian defenders will soon be experiencing exactly the kind of trouble he caused across the PSL,” she added.

If the deal is concluded this week, The Amajita start Magidigidi, who will join the growing list of South African talents heading to the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, a traditional springboard for African players aiming for Europe’s “Big Five” leagues.
