Coupe de France: Ilan Kebbal assists match winner in Paris FC’s shock of PSG

Paris FC were the kings of the French capital on Monday after Ilan Kebbal set up Jonathan Ikone to score the only goal of the match in a 1-0 shock victory over Paris Saint-Germain from the Coupe de France.

In his first match for the club since returning from 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria, Kebbal came on as a substitute at halftime before setting up the 74th minute winner in the Round of 32 clash. A clever pass found former PSG youth product Ikone, who refused to celebrate against his former club after firing past goalkeeper Teddy Chevalier.

Notably, it is the first time that Paris FC have ever defeated the French champions. The club earned promotion to the top flight Ligue 1 and are currently battling relegation, following a 46-year spell outside of the premier division of French football. Monday’s defeat marks the first time PSG have exited before the Round of 16 stage of the Coupe de France since the 2013-14 edition when they fell to Montpellier in the Round of 32.

Kebbal is the undisputed star of Paris FC. The Marseille-born attacking midfielder was named in the Ligue 2 Team of the Year last season as he led the charge for promotion and he also claimed Ligue 1’s Player of the Month award in August. The 27-year-old now has 6 goals and 5 assists in 17 matches across all competitions this season.

His strong form saw Kebbal brought into the Algeria squad for the first time in his career in September. An unused substitute for 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Botswana and Guinea, he made his Les Verts debut as a substitute in an October 14 victory over Uganda in World Cup qualifying.
