Ghana Premier League: Dogo Yakubu delighted to sign for Asante Kotoko

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have bolstered their attack with the signing of young forward Dogo Yakubu.

The 21-year-old signed a three-and-a-half year deal to join the record Ghana Premier League holders from MidCity Football Academy.

Dogo Yakubu becomes Asante Kotoko’s second signing after the Porcupine Warriors captured defensive midfielder Prince Badu from fellow premier league side, Nations FC.

Dogo Yakubu said: “I’m still young, and I believe I have a huge chance here to make a name for myself,” he told AKSC media.

“Joining Kotoko is a big opportunity for my career, and I’m grateful for the trust the club has shown in me. I’m ready to work hard, learn every day, and take my chances when they come. I want to improve, score goals, and help the team succeed.”

Kotoko coach Karim Zito insists the signing of the forward is part of the club’s long-term plans.

“This signing is part of our plan for the future. Dogo is young, hungry, and has the qualities we look for in a modern striker. We believe in giving young players the right platform to develop, and this is the right environment for him to grow, gain confidence, and become an important player for the club over time,” said Zito.

Dogo could make his debut for the FA Cup holders in the game against GoldStars on Sunday, January 18. Asante Kotoko currently sit in 4th on the league table on 31 points same as rivals Hearts of Oak after 18 matches.
