Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor are reportedly monitoring the situation of Nigeria national team defender Bruno Onyemaechi who currently plays for Greek giants Olympiacos.
Onyemaechi has caught the eye with his impressive performances for Nigeria at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. He has made four appearances for the Super Eagles and provided a key assist during their 2-0 victory over Algeria in their quarter final match.
Trabzonspor’s interest is a continuation of a pursuit that began over a year ago. During the January 2025 transfer window, the Turkish club were the primary suitors for the left-back while he was at Portuguese side Boavista. However, they ultimately lost out to Olympiacos, who secured his signature for a reported €3 million.
The 26-year-old has, however, struggled for regular playing time in Greece this season, despite his contract running until June 2028. Given his lack of consistent starts, Trabzonspor view this window as a “second chance” to bring the defender to Turkey. Internal reports suggest that negotiations have already begun, with the Turkish side hoping to finalize a deal before the European window closes.

Onyemaechi is currently valued at €2.5m by Transfermarkt. If the deal is finalized, he would link up with fellow Super Eagles teammate Paul Onuachu, providing him with a familiar support system in Trabzon.
