AFCON 2027: Gabon begins hunt for coach to replace Mouyouma

The Gabon Football Association (FEGAFOOT) has started the hunt for a coach to replace Thierry Mouyouma.

Mououma lost his job following a disastrous Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) outing in Morocco.

Gabon lost all their group-stage games to Cameroon (1-0), Mozambique (3-2) and Ivory Coast (3-2).

This cost the job of Mouyouma who was sacked while the entire national team was dissolved.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Sports for the West African nation suspended striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and captain Ecuélé Manga over the AFCON disappointment.

Lifting of suspension of Aubameyang

Meanwhile, the government has lifted the suspension of the duo, but maintained the decision on the coach.

Now, with the 2027 AFCON qualifiers set to start in March, FEGAFOOT wants to hire a new coach.

In a statement, FEGAFOOT says the deadline for aspiring coaches to submit application letters is January 26.

The Gabon government advised FEGAFOOT appoint a new coaching panel as soon as possible.
