Canadian Northern Super League (NSL) club AFC Toronto has announced a one-year contract extension for Nigerian international forward Esther Okoronkwo.
The 28-year-old, who joined AFC Toronto in February 2025, was one of four key players whose contracts were renewed by the club on Thursday. Her stellar debut season—in which she recorded eight goals and 11 assists in 20 league appearances—was instrumental in securing the new deal.
Toronto’s Sporting Director, Billy Wilson, expressed his delight regarding Okoronkwo’s commitment to the club.
“We’re delighted that Esther, Lauren, Zoe, and Kaila have all committed to extending their time with AFC Toronto. Their commitment reinforces our belief in this group and our ambition as we continue to build toward the future.”
Okoronkwo was a vital component of Marko Milanović’s squad, helping the team finish at the top of the regular-season table. While Toronto eventually fell short in the playoff final—losing 2-1 to Vancouver Rise FC—Okoronkwo’s individual contributions remained a highlight of the campaign.
The former UD Tenerife star finished the inaugural season as the league’s top assist provider and was named to the NSL Team of the Season.
