Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo discussed his goal which helped Manchester United on their way to defeat rivals City in a Premier League derby at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Fresh from representing the Indomitable Lions at the on-going 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the former Brentford star opened the scoring against the Blues in front of the Stretford End.

Mbeumo latched onto a terrific pass from captain Bruno Fernandes, finally beating Gianluigi Donnarumma, who had made some superb saves.
“Obviously, when we come out from the high free-kick for them, there is a counter opportunity,” Mbeumo told MUTV after the game.
“I know then they’re not structured and [from there] I saw a big space and I just sprinted into it. Bruno [Fernandes] gave me the ball perfectly.”
He added: “I think it’s one of them [best moments]. Scoring in front of this stand is unbelievable. The derby is even more [special] and like Licha [Martinez has] said, we used the energy of the fans today. This place was unbelievable today.”
Mbeumo concluded: “I think [it was] the team effort, like everyone was doing their jobs and everyone was defending.
“Everyone was attacking. We’ve been a bit unlucky maybe with the offsides [as three goals were disallowed] and stuff, but yeah, I think it’s a very good performance.”
Out of 17 Premier League matches so far this season, Mbeumo has scored seven goals for Man United and provided one assist.
