The curtain has fallen on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which ended with Senegal lifting the trophy after defeating hosts Morocco in the final.
The regulation time of the final between Morocco and Senegal ended in a goalless draw, with a dramatic missed penalty from Brahim Díaz. The match then went into extra time, where Senegal’s Pape Gueye scored a decisive goal in the 94th minute, sealing the title for the Teranga Lions at the end of the additional 30 minutes.
The AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco was marked by unprecedented attacking output, as participating teams scored a total of 121 goals throughout the competition.
On the historical level, Egypt remain the national team with the highest number of goals scored in Africa Cup of Nations history.

It is worth noting that Egypt also top the list of the most successful teams in AFCON history, having won the title seven times, two more than second-placed Cameroon.
