Morocco forward diagnosed with ACL rupture after injury in AFCON final

French club LOSC Lille have provided an update on the condition of Morocco international Hamza Igamane following the injury he sustained with the Atlas Lions in the AFCON 2025 final.

Morocco suffered a 1–0 defeat to Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final, a match that went into extra time.

Lille announced that Hamza Igamane has suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The French club added in a press release: “LOSC will support its player as best as possible in order to see him return even more determined alongside his teammates.”

Igamane joined Lille at the start of the current season from Glasgow Rangers. The 23-year-old has made 18 appearances in all competitions for the French side, scoring nine goals and providing two assists.

He was introduced as a substitute during extra time in the 98th minute of the AFCON final, before being forced off injured in the 106rd minute.
