The duo joins “The Citizens” from Sekhukhune United on deals running until the end of the 2025/26 campaign. The move is seen as a strategic play to provide newly appointed head coach Sinethemba Badela with the necessary firepower as he begins his tenure in the dugout.
A product of the Chippa United youth structures, the 26-year-old Maarman brings a reputation for blistering pace and tactical versatility. Despite only joining Sekhukhune six months ago, the creative attacker found limited starting opportunities, making seven appearances and netting once.
βIβm thrilled to join Durban City FC and contribute to such an ambitious club with a rich history,β Maarman stated during his unveiling. His ability to unlock defences will be vital for a Durban City side looking to turn draws into wins.
Joining Maarman in the move to the coast is the experienced Siphiwe Mahlangu. The 30-year-old arrives with a wealth of top-flight experience, most notably from a productive stint at TS Galaxy where he racked up 24 goal involvements (15 goals, 9 assists) in over 100 appearances.
Having featured just three times for Ba Bina Noko this season, Mahlangu is eager for a fresh start. βIβm excited to be part of Durban City FC and ready to give my all for the team as we push forward,β he remarked.
The arrivals mark a busy start for Coach Badela, who recently took the reins following the departure of Gavin Hunt. Durban City currently sits in a respectable seventh position on the log with 22 points from 15 matches, but the management is clearly pushing for a higher finish.
In an official statement on Wednesday, the club welcomed the pair: βDurban City FC warmly welcomes Ronaldo Maarman and Siphiwe Mahlangu to the Citizens family and looks forward to their contribution on and off the pitch.β
