Al Ahly’s Director of Football, Walid Salah El-Din, has officially confirmed the completion of agreement for the transfer of Egyptian young talent Hamza Abdelkarim to FC Barcelona during the ongoing winter transfer window.
Speaking to ON Sport, Salah El-Din said:
“Hamza Abdelkarim is moving to Barcelona, and we hope he does not return to us again, but rather continues his professional journey abroad.”
He added:
“There are still some administrative steps to finalize, of course, but God willing, all matters will be completed.”
Born on 1 January 2008, Abdelkarim is regarded as one of the most promising prospects to emerge from Al Ahly’s academy in recent years. He previously represented Egypt’s U-17 national team at the most recent FIFA U-17 World Cup, where he recorded three goal contributions—scoring two goals and providing one assist across four matches.
On 6 February 2025, Abdelkarim made history by becoming the youngest player to represent Al Ahly first team in the 21st century, surpassing the previous record held by Ramadan Sobhi by nine days.
Hamza’s move represents a significant milestone in his development, offering him the opportunity to grow within one of the world’s most renowned football academies and compete at the highest technical level from an early age.
