Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards maintained their perfect search for the elusive Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title following a 1-0 victory against Sofapaka at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
Ingwe’s victory came just a day after their rivals Gor Mahia came from a goal down to beat Bidco Unted 2-1 and reclaim the top spot. Kayci Odhiambo scored the all-important goal to send AFC level on points with Gor Mahia at the summit.
The two teams are now tied on 36 points, but the former champions Gor Mahia have played one match less. Gor Mahia have won 11 matches, drawn three, and lost three while AFC have won 10 matches, drawn six, and lost two.
In another fixture, second half goals from Chris Erambo and Eric Kapaito saw Tusker bounce back to winning ways with a well-worked 2-1 win over KCB at the Kasarani Annex.
The Bankers drew one back late in the game, but Tusker did enough to protect the lead and get the first win of the year. New Tusker signing Stephen Etyang was handed a debut just four days after signing with Kapaito leading the hunt for goals, also returning to the starting XI.
Erambo controlled with his first touch and rifled a brilliant volley into the top corner for the opener before Etyang released Kapaito with a brilliant through pass, the striker beating his marker for strength before maintaining his calm to plant the ball into the bottom right.
Substitute Dennis Oalo almost made it 3-1 shortly after coming on, but his rasping shot from the right came off the side netting.
