Asante Kotoko got back to winning ways with a superb 3-0 victory against Holy Stars in week 20 of the Ghana Premier League game on Sunday.
Defender, Samba O’Neil opened the floodgates with a penalty kick early in the first half before two overhead kicks by returnee striker Albert Amoah and Kwame Opoku in the second half sealed the day for the record Ghana Premier League holders.
The win was Kotoko’s first after going three matches against All Blacks, GoldStars and Berekum Chelsea without a win.
Head coach of Kotoko, Karim Zito expressed joy over the big win over Holy Stars.
“I am more than happy that we have won today, it’s been long, so many weeks trying everything possible to win a game but I am very happy today we’ve been able to score three beautiful goals, I am very happy,” Karim Zito said after the game.
Striker Albert Amoah announced his presence with a goal after returning to the club on loan from Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi where he struggled to command a regular shirt.
Karim Zito has hailed the return of Albert Amoah, stressing that it will go a long way to sharpen the club’s attack.
“He announced his coming back with these two beautiful plays, scoring one and assisting one so I’m very happy he is back to help the club.”
Kotoko, prior to beating Holy Stars had lost 2-1 at All Blacks before posting goalless draws against reigning champions GoldStars and Berekum Chelsea in their last three games.
Asante Kotoko moved to second on the league table with 35 points same as Hearts of Oak and Aduana FC after 20-games into the season. Their next game is away to Heart of Lions in week 21 on Saturday, January 31.
All three clubs sit eight points behind leaders Medeama SC who defeated Karela United 3-1 at the Tarkwa TnA Park on Sunday.
