Morocco lands major grassroots boost as FIFA unveils 30 mini-pitch project

Morocco’s growing influence in world football has received another significant endorsement after FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed plans to roll out 30 “FIFA Arena” mini-pitches across the North African nation.

The ambitious project, backed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in partnership with the OCP Group, is designed to take the game closer to communities by offering young people safe, modern and sustainable spaces to play football.

Beyond nurturing talent, the initiative is also aimed at using the sport as a tool for social development and community cohesion.

The announcement further underlines Morocco’s rising profile on the global stage as it continues preparations to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, with infrastructure and grassroots programs increasingly aligning to meet international standards.

Meanwhile, at continental level, CAF has made a key administrative decision by stepping aside Disciplinary Committee chairman Ousmane Keïta from the investigation into the 2025 AFCON final to avoid any potential conflict of interest.

Oversight of the probe into the controversial Morocco–Senegal match has now been handed to a Kenyan vice-president, as the Confederation seeks to ensure transparency and credibility in the process.
