Zamalek coach believes his players are always under pressure and reveals why

Zamalek coach Moatamed Gamal admitted that his side wasted the chance to secure a more emphatic victory, despite claiming a 2–0 win over Petrojet in the Nile Egyptian League.

The White Knights defeated Petrojet on Wednesday at Cairo International Stadium in Round 16 of the league, moving up to 25 points in the standings.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Gamal said:
“The match against Petrojet was difficult for both teams, but we missed the opportunity to achieve a bigger win. We created many chances but did not take advantage of them in the best way, scoring only two goals. Petrojet did not pose a significant threat to our goal.”

Zamalek coach added:
“I thank the players for the great effort they put into the match. I wanted to rest Mohamed Ismail, but Mohamed Shehata’s injury disrupted our plans. Still, we managed to secure an important victory.”

Gamal highlighted the pressure of playing for Zamalek and praised the young players, saying:
“The players are always under pressure because they play for Zamalek. The young players performed well, and I am not worried about relying on some of them in the starting lineup.”

Providing an update on injuries, the coach explained:
“Ahmed Fattouh underwent medical scans to determine his position regarding the upcoming match against Al Masry in the Confederation Cup. Abdullah El Said has also recently returned to training, and within the next 10 days the squad will be complete.”

On the absence of goalkeeper Mohamed Awad, Gamal clarified:
“I made changes to the lineup in more than one position. Zamalek’s interests always come first, and it is natural to prepare all players for any situation. Any player who makes a mistake will be punished.”

Zamalek’s 2–0 victory over Petrojet lifted their points tally to 25, strengthening their position in the Nile Egyptian League as they continue their push for the top spots.
