Sakala struggled at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations but is thriving upon his return to club duties. His goal before halftime confirmed an insurmountable 3-0 lead over Al Khaleej for hosts Al Fayha, who now have back-to-back victories after previously enduring an eight-match winless streak.
It was a trademark strike for the Zambian, who enjoys more opportunities in space with his club compared to when he suits up for Chipolopolo. Bursting by a defender on the left wing, the former Rangers FC forward drove into the penalty area and maneuvered past two more defenders before firing in a brilliant finish.

He now has 6 goals and 2 assists in 16 league matches this season and the result moves Fayha into 12th place on the 18-team table.
Mahrez is in good form as well, making it one goal and two assists in his last three matches including the assist on Al Ahli’s opener in a 4-0 victory over Al Ettifaq. Displaying his incredible control of the ball, the former Manchester City star brilliantly took down a long ball before setting up Ivan Toney for the opening goal in the Englishman’s hat-trick.

Al Ahli maintained their pace in second place, engaged in a fierce battle with the league’s other two giants Al Hilal and Al Nassr. Hilal remain ahead by two points over Ahli while Nassr can move level with Ahli when travel to face Al Kholood on Friday.
Mahrez now has 5 goals and 9 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions for the title contenders.
