Power Dynamos head coach Oswald Mutapa believes the Zambian champions can still rescue their CAF Champions League Group A campaign as they prepare for a must-win away clash against Nigeria’s Rivers United.
Dynamos and Rivers United played out a 0-0 stalemate at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia on Saturday. It was a frustrating match for hosts Dynamos, who failed to take advantage of multiple opportunities while the visitors enjoyed a strong performance from goalkeeper Osagie Onisodumeya.
Ahead of the return leg, Mutapa has maintained they are going to Nigeria to get victory against the home side.
“We’re always playing games to win, and the match against Rivers United in Nigeria is no different. It’s an important game for us,” Mutapa said.
“Yes, Pyramids FC and RS Berkane have seven points each, but what we need to do is win our games, starting with the game in Nigeria.
“Football is played with pressure. The way we are creating chances, I don’t think we’re a team that can’t score.
“At any given time, we can even score four goals. It’s about taking responsibility. These are the same players who won us the league and have been scoring.”
He concluded: “If we keep a clean sheet, create chances and score, then it gives us a chance.”
Placed in Group A, Dynamos are currently placed fourth with a single points, six fewer than table leaders RS Berkane.
