MC Alger coach Rulani Mokwena has wielded the axe on two players for the Algeria Ligue 1 Professionnelle pacesetters. This comes amid reports that the South African handler wants to create space for new arrivals this January transfer window.
Will the former Mamelodi Sundowns manager turn to the Betway Premiership for replacements? Only time will tell.
In the meantime, MCA have confirmed the release of 25-year-old midfielder Ishak Boussouf and 29-year-old right-winger Tayeb Meziani from their contracts.
“The management of the Algeria MLC club announces the official departure of the duo Isaac Bosouf and Tayib Maziani from the club,” reads the statement.
“Where Isaac Bosouf’s contract has been terminated, while an agreement has been reached with the good player Mziani to terminate the contract by conciliation, for compensation equal to three months’ wages. This and the management of the Algeria MC wishes all the best for the pair in the rest of its athletic career.”

Mokwena has since his arrival at the North African team only signed one player—midfielder Chahreddine Boukholda from MCO.
Who is on Mokwena’s radar?
Now, according to the DZFoot website of Algeria, the former Sundowns coach is on the market hunting for a winger and a left-back to reinforce his squad.
The outlet claims that Mokwena has several players on his radar, including Libyan international Rafik Guitane. MC Alger are flying in the domestic league, placed 12 points clear at the summit of the Algerian Ligue 1.
However, the same cannot be said about their CAF Champions’ League group-stage performance.
Mokwena’s men remain winless in three outings going into Sunday’s Group C Champions League meeting with FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo. The Algerians lost 1-0 to the Congolese side last weekend. Previous results included draws with Al-Hilal Omdurman and Sundowns late last year.
