Evann Guessand: Ivory Coast star fired up after Crystal Palace switch

Ivory Coast forward Evann Guessand has expressed delight in joining Crystal Palace on loan from Aston Villa.

Guessand, 24, moves to the Selhurst Park on loan until the end of the season, with Crystal Palace given the option of making the transfer permanent.

Born in France, the skillful forward graduated from the Nice academy before loan spells at Lausanne-Sport and Nantes.

His impressive performance in the 2024/25 season saw him notch 12 goals as Nice finished fourth in Ligue 1 and winning the club’s Player of the Season award.

Palace are 15th on English Premier League table

The swashbuckling performances at Nantes forced Aston Villa to snap him up, making his debut against Palace earlier this season.

At international level, Guessand is capped 19 times for Ivory Coast with three goals to his credit.

Guessand said: “I’m really, really excited. I was waiting for this moment for a very long time, and I’m excited to play with my new teammates.

“I think, with the quality we have, we can achieve something.”

Crystal Palace have experienced tough times recently under manager Oliver Glasner where they have gone six Premier League games without a win.

They shockingly suffered a 2-1 loss to lower tier side Macclesfield FC in the English FA Cup on January 10.

They are 15th on the English Premier League table with 28 points from 23 matches.
