African stars Soufiane Rahimi of Morocco and Kodjo Laba of Togo led Al Ain to the semi-finals of the UAE President’s Cup with a 3–0 victory over Dibba.
All three goals came in the second half, with Rahimi scoring twice and Laba adding the other to seal Al Ain’s place among the final four.
Rahimi opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, showing great skill as he brilliantly redirected a cross into the back of the net. Al Ain doubled their advantage in the 77th minute when Kodjo Laba converted another cross with a very good finish.
The Moroccan international then completed his brace by scoring Al Ain’s third goal, producing a moment of individual brilliance before firing the ball into the net to make the result 3-0.
The quarter-final action continues on Sunday, with defending champions Shabab Al Ahli facing Khorfakkan, while Dubai United, from the second division, will play a historic match against Al Wahda.
The quarter-final stage will conclude on Monday, as Bani Yas take on Al Jazira, with the semi-final draw set to be held after the final match.
