Zambia: Malawian duo sign for Kansanshi Dynamos

Malawian striker Zeliat Nkhoma and midfielder Patrick Macheso have signed for Zambian side Kansanshi Dynamos FC.

In a statement, the MTN Super League side confirmed the hiring of Nkhoma from Kamuzu Barracks FC and Macheso as a free agent on Saturday. Macheso last represented Silver Strikers in 2024 season. The duo have joined Dynamos alongside Zambian midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu.

“The club says the squad adjustments form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the team and improve performance in the second half of the season as Kansanshi Dynamos FC continues its campaign in the MTN Super League,” reads part of the statement.

The club’s general secretary Mweshi Mupeta has since welcomed the new arrivals while wishing them well.

The Malawians have penned a two-year contract each. Nkhoma , who is capped with the Flames, is a good traditional centre-forward.

He scored 13 league goals last season, only two strikes behind the 2025 TNM Super League joint top scorers Babatunde Adepoju and Chikumbutso Salima then on the books of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

More Malawians at Dynamos

Nkhoma and Macheso will join compatriot Franscisco Madinga at Dynamos, Overall, this brings the number of Malawians in the Zambian league to six, including Chimwemwe Idana, Robert Saizi (ZANACO FC) and Chifundo Mphasi (Power Dynamos FC).

On the other hand, Kapumbu has joined from another MTN Super League outfit Konkola Blades on a season-long contract.

Dynamos have renewed contracts of Brian Mwila until the end of the season, alongside the deals of Titus Chivunga and Julius Mwanza.

The new recruits have filled the void created by the exit from the MTN Super League club of players Timothy Sakala, Kelvin Chisamba, Christopher Katongo, Mathews Mwale, Rabson Mumba, Ackson Ndalama and Cornelius Mwendela.
