Down 1-2 to Heidenheim through sixty minutes, the prolific striker converted from a penalty kick in the 68th minute before finishing again two minutes later to complete a spectacular turnaround at the Signal Iduna Park.

The two teams cancelled each other out by halftime following an eventful conclusion to the end of the first half. Waldemar Anton opened the scoring for the hosts before Heidenhim equalized through Julian Niehues in stoppage time.

But when Niehues struck again less than five minutes into the second half, it appeared that Die Borussen in serious danger of suffering their first league defeat since mid-October.

Enter Guirassy. After scoring only one goal in his previous eleven matches for the club, the Guinean was handed a golden opportunity to recover his scoring touch after a penalty kick was awarded. He made no mistake to level the match and swing the momentum back in the direction of the Bundesliga’s second place team.

And less than two minutes later, the hosts were back ahead when their talismanic forward calmed the home supporters with the eventual match winner.

Guirassy’s total is underwhelming this season compared to previous campaigns but his club maintained their pursuit of league leaders Bayern Munich, who they trail by six points. He now has 12 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions.
