World Cup: Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo wants to make difference

Ghana attacker Antoine Semenyo has opened up his ambition ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The bulky forward who joined Manchester City from Bournemouth, contributed to the Black Stars qualification for the global football festival to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico in June.

Semenyo has hit the ground running at Manchester City, scoring four goals in all competitions since signing a five-and-a-half year deal worth £64M.

In an interview with CBS Sports Golazo, the former Bristol City enforcer stated his desire to make it count at the mundial.

Semenyo has two goals from three EPL matches

“We are going to come in big bunches and I think in big tournaments like this we want to show our culture, we want to show we are different to other nations whether it’s dancing, whether it’s singing, just support in the crowd,” Antoine Semenyo told CBS Sports Golazo.

“We just love football and the World Cup is going to be amazing and hopefully we do well and God willing [we] looking forward to playing at the World Cup.

Semenyo has 32 caps with three goals for Ghana and has so far scored two goals in three English Premier League games under manager Pep Guardiola.

The 26-year-old opened his Manchester City goal account in their 10-1 FA Cup win over Exeter City before a second in a 2-0 victory against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.

His first English Premier League goal came in a 2-0 win over strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers and a second in the 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.
