NPFL: Kun Khalifat rescinds withdrawal from league

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kun Khalifat has rescinded its decision to withdraw from the league, calling for fans’ support ahead of their Matchday 25 encounter against Shooting Stars (3SC) this Sunday.

The Owerri-based club announced its withdrawal on Wednesday following severe sanctions imposed by the NPFL for failing to honor their Matchday 24 fixture against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.

As part of the disciplinary action, Kun Khalifat was ordered to forfeit three points and three goals to the Warriors and was hit with a N10 million fine.

However, the club reversed its decision following constructive talks with NPFL authorities, despite having previously informed the public that they would no longer participate in the league.

In a post via the club’s social media handles, management urged supporters to turn out in large numbers to rally behind the team.

“To the best fans in the whole world… we need you this Sunday as we welcome SHOOTING STARS S.C this Sunday.

Your voices, your energy, your passion — they change everything for the boys. Sunday is another chapter, another battle, and we can’t write it without you.

Come out, fill the stands, and rally behind the team. Let the boys feel you. Let the stadium shake with your support.

We’ll give everything on that pitch — and with you behind us, we believe anything is possible.”
