Fasil Kenema miss chance to go top after Hadiya Hosaina defeat

Fasil Kenema missed out on a chance to go top of the CBE Ethiopian Premier League following their 1–0 defeat at the hands of Hadiya Hosaina. The first round of the top flight ended earlier today with the completion of a rescheduled Week 16 tie at the Addis Ababa Stadium, where Hadiya Hosaina gained maximum points.

Fasil Kenema came into the tie in the hope of securing a victory that could have taken them to the summit of the league by surpassing Sidama Coffee, Hawassa Ketema, and Negele Arsi.

They looked the better side in the first half but lacked attacking proficiency. Hadiya Hosaina came close to taking the lead through an effort from Biruk Beyene.

The second half saw an evenly matched affair, with chances going either way. The Southern Ethiopian side took the lead at the hour mark with a fine goal from youngster Surafel Temesgen. Temesgen unleashed a low drive from outside the box to score the lone goal of the encounter.

The Emperors did try to get back into the tie, but their efforts were futile as Hadiya Hosaina held on to take the three points.

The defeat left Fasil Kenema fourth with 33 points, two points adrift of league leaders Sidama Coffee. Hadiya Hosaina are 10th with 24 points.
