Forward Anatole Abang signs for Libyan outfit Al Ittihad SC

Experienced Cameroonian forward Anatole Abang has signed for Libyan outfit Al Ittihad SC, marking his return to African football after spending the last two years in the Gulf region.

The 29-year-old is marking a return to African football for the first time after playing for home clubs, Canon Sportif Young Boys, Fortuna du Mfou and Rainbow Bamenda between 2014 and 2015.

The former New York Red Bulls attacker spent the last two years in the UAE Pro League with Al Bataeh, a side he joined in 2023 from Azerbaijani side Shamakhi.

The club wrote: “From Cameroon, names that have weight on the continent wore the shirt of the leader and the general. With the memories of the legends Patrick Mboma and Alexis Enam, we bring the sniper.,’ wrote the club.


He started off at Canon Sportif Young Boys before moving to Fortuna du Mfou and Rainbow Bamenda. He moved to Major League Soccer, where he featured for the New York Red Bulls.

His European journey includes stints at Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova, alongside spells at Hobro IK, SJK Seinajoki, Astra Giurgiu before his most recent move in the United Arab Emirates.
