Al Ahly return to winning ways with Ben Romdhane’s first Nile League goal

Al Ahly rediscovered their rhythm in the Nile Egyptian League after securing a 2-0 win against Ismaily on Wednesday evening at Borg El Arab Stadium. The postponed fixture from Matchweek 14 saw the Red Devils claim three valuable points.

The breakthrough arrived in the 31st minute through Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane. The ball fell to him inside the penalty area, and he slotted it home as the goalkeeper rushed off his line. The goal marked Ben Romdhane’s first of the season for Al Ahly, both domestically and in continental competitions.

Al Ahly doubled their advantage just before halftime. In the 43rd minute, Achraf Bencharki whipped in a cross into the box, where Yassin Marei met it with a strike that deflected off an Ismaily player before looping into the net.

The second half witnessed the debut of Moroccan full-back Youssef Belammari in the 69th minute, marking his first appearance in the famous red shirt.

The victory further extends Al Ahly’s dominance over Ismaily, as the Yellow team have now gone more than 15 years without defeating the Cairo giants — their last win dating back to November 2010.

With this result, Al Ahly move up to 30 points, sitting third in the league standings as they continue their pursuit of the top spot. Meanwhile, Ismaily remain rooted to the bottom of the table in 21st place with just 10 points.
