Mukwala who played 70 minutes, is expected to add a lot of bite in the attack of the three-time Libyan champions as they battle to claim their fourth title.
The Cranes of Uganda attacker spent over five years playing top flight football with home clubs Vipers, Maroons FC, URA FC before moving to Ghana giants Asante Kotoko in 2022 where he spent two seasons.
He left the Porcupine Warriors to join Simba of Tanzania before the mouthwatering deal to Libya with Al Nasr. He played two games for Uganda at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations where Uganda suffered a group stage elimination without a win.
Mukwala left Simba having made a strong impression, scoring 13 goals in 28 appearances since joining the club from Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in July 2024. He has 29 caps with two goals for Uganda.

The prolific forward hit the ground running at his new club, providing a crucial match-winning assist on his debut as the Libyan giants edged out Al Wefaq Ajdabiya 1-0 in the Libyan Cup Round of 32 on Thursday.
The match, played at the Martyrs of February Stadium, marked the beginning of a new chapter for the 26-year-old, who recently completed a lucrative move from Tanzanian heavyweights Simba SC. Named in the starting lineup by the head coach, Mukwala played with the hunger of a man eager to prove his worth. The deadlock was tight, with Al Wefaq setting up a disciplined defensive block to frustrate the hosts.
However, the moment of magic arrived courtesy of the Ugandan’s vision. Drifting into space, Mukwala held off his marker before delivering a pinpoint pass that set up the only goal of the game. He featured for 70 minutes, showcasing his trademark pace, hold-up play, and movement before being substituted to a warm reception.
“It is important to start well. The team played hard, and I am happy to contribute to the win. We want to go all the way in this Cup,” Mukwala reportedly shared with local media after the match.
Mukwala’s arrival in North Africa is one of the headline transfers of the window. The striker joined Al Nasr from Simba SC in a one-and-a-half-year deal reported to be worth in the region of €150,000 (approx. UGX 600 million).
This move comes after a successful 18-month stint in Tanzania, where he became a fan favorite. His departure from the Wekundu wa Msimbazi was emotional, but the financial and sporting project presented by Al Nasr—who are chasing their fourth league title—was too good to turn down.
Mukwala is joining a team with winning momentum. Al Nasr are the reigning champions of the Libyan Premier League, having lifted the title in the 2023/24 season. The club is currently battling to defend their crown and sees the Ugandan marksman as the missing piece of the puzzle to secure a domestic double (League and Cup).
He is expected to add “bite” to an attack that already boasts significant talent. His experience in the CAF Champions League with Simba will also be vital as the club looks to establish itself as a continental force.
Mukwala’s journey to Libya is a testament to his consistency.
Uganda: He cut his teeth in the Uganda Premier League, playing for top sides like Vipers SC, Maroons FC, and URA FC. He was a Golden Boot winner on home soil, proving his predatory instincts early on.
Ghana: In 2022, he moved to West African giants Asante Kotoko. Over two seasons, he became a cult hero in Kumasi, scoring vital goals and adapting seamlessly to the physical nature of the Ghana Premier League.
Tanzania: He moved to Simba SC in July 2024. During his time in Dar es Salaam, he made a strong impression, netting 13 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions.
On the international stage, Mukwala remains a key figure for the Uganda Cranes. He currently boasts 29 caps and has found the back of the net twice for his nation.
Most recently, he featured in two games for Uganda at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Although the tournament was disappointing for the Cranes—who suffered a group-stage elimination without a win—Mukwala’s work rate was one of the few positives. His move to a more competitive league in North Africa is expected to sharpen his skills further, benefiting the national team in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
With the Round of 32 hurdle cleared, Al Nasr will now turn their attention back to the league. Mukwala will be hoping to open his goal-scoring account in the next fixture. If his debut is anything to go by, the defenders in the Libyan Premier League are in for a tough time.
