Jess Thorup, Al Ahly coach, has confirmed that his side is fully prepared for their decisive encounter against AS FAR in the final round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Al Ahly will host the Moroccan side at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday in the sixth and final group-stage fixture of the CAF Champions League.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Thorup said, according to Yallakora:
“We have played two matches at home so far in the group stage, and tomorrow will be our third. I am very excited to see the great Al Ahly fans supporting us against FAR Rabat.”
The Danish coach confirmed that Al Ahly have already secured qualification to the quarter-finals, but stressed that winning remains the objective.
“We have already qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League, but our goal in every match is to win. We know tomorrow’s game against FAR Rabat will be tough and competitive, especially since the Moroccan side needs a positive result to secure qualification.”
Thorup stressed that Al-Ahly aims to win every match it plays, expressing his hope that the team will appear strong and in the way it deserves to be at the top of the group’s ranking table.
Al-Ahly coach explained that the team’s priority was to qualify and then advance as first in the group and achieve the third victory at home in the group stage. Thorup stressed the strength of the confrontation given that the AS FAR has many distinguished players.
The Al Ahly coach concluded by talking about Emam Ashour, revealing:
“I spoke with Emam Ashour yesterday and asked him to focus on the future and learn from any mistakes.”
