Kenyan Premier League side Gor Mahia moved six points clear at the summit of the FKF Premier League following their comeback 2-1 win against APS Bomet in a fixture played at Kericho Green Stadium on Sunday.
The record Kenyan champions went into the fixture seeking to avenge the shock first round defeat. The promoted side under coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo, had won their first ever meeting 4-1.

This was Gor Mahia’s fifth straight win the league since their 0-0 draw against Shabana. They defeated Murang’a Seal 3-0, Bidco United 2-1, Sofapaka 3-0, and now APS Bomet 2-1.
Ghanaian forward Ebenezer Kofi Assifuah scored for Gor Mahia as they started on a high note in the away game. With APSBomet looking to level the scores, new signing Jackson Dwang made it 2-0 for K’Ogalo.
However, Bomet threatened a comeback when Hansel Ochieng pulled a goal back, but Gor Mahia stayed firm to secure maximum points. The defeat saw Gor Mahia stretch their lead to six points. They have amassed 43 points from 23 matches.
Gor Mahia have won 13 matches, drawn four and lost three. Second-placed AFC Leopards drew 0-0 against Bandari away in Mombasa. The draw saw Ingwe reach 37 points from 19 matches.
Meanwhile, in another fixture, Tusker suffered a 3-1 defeat against Mathare United. The defeat saw the Brewers drop to position ninth with 28 points from 20 matches.
