Asante Kotoko recaptured the summit of the Ghana Premier League table in a hard fought win over Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon.
The Porcupine Warriors fought relentlessly to sink the former champions by 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in a Week 21 outstanding fixture.
The record Premier League title holders capitalized on a moment of brilliance from defender Daniel Adjetey, whose powerful strike from outside the box in the 79th minute broke the deadlock against the run of play.
Despite a late push from Chelsea, Kotoko managed to hold on to secure the three points, moving back into top spot with 45 points, one better than Gold Stars who sit second after 24 matches.
This victory will be a morale booster ahead of their upcoming Ghana FA Cup semi-finals clash in May, where both teams will meet again in a highly anticipated encounter.
Kotoko extended their unbeaten run to six league games, after a streak of victories.
