Senegal international midfielder Mamadou Lamine Camara has officially left RS Berkane to join Libyan club Al-Ittihad Tripoli, putting an end to a winding transfer saga.

After two unsuccessful attempts, one with Stoke City last summer and the other with Al-Ahly Tripoli which fell through due to a delay in finalizing the deal, Lamine Camara can finally experience a new lease of life in the Libyan league.

He has just signed a contract with the current leaders of the Libyan league, Al-Ittihad Tripoli, for an estimated $2.5 million the former Darou Salam midfielder is set to receive an annual salary of around $1.2 million.

Mamadou Camara has six senior caps for Senegal

Having recently won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, the 23-year-old midfielder is leaving Morocco after more than five seasons with RS Berkane, where he established himself as a key player in midfield.

He contributed to winning two CAF Confederation Cups and a Moroccan league title, and was voted the league’s best foreign player last season.

Mamadou Lamine Camara is continuing his career in Libya with Al-Ittihad Tripoli, a historic club and one of the most successful in the country, which aims to maintain its dominance in the Libyan league.

Currently leading Group B, the club is counting on signings like Mamadou Lamine Camara to strengthen its squad and shine both domestically and continentally.

The intelligent midfielder rose through the Senegal U-17, U-20, U-23 through to the senior level where he has made six appearances with a goal.
