Young Africans confirm venue change for Simba SC Kariakoo derby

Young Africans have moved to the venue for the first Kariakoo derby of the season against rivals Simba SC scheduled for March 1 in Tanzania.

The league champions will host the first derby of the season and being the home team, they have confirmed changes to the venue.

While the fixture is always played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Saalam, Yanga have confirmed the first-round fixture will be played at New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.

“Our Mainland Premier League match on March 1, 2026 against Simba SC, the Kariakoo Derby, will be played at the New Amaan Complex at 8:15pm. You are all welcome,” confirmed Young Africans Media Officer Ally Kamwe.

Young Africans are lying in third position on the log

The latest changes come at a time Young Africans are sitting third on the league table with 22 points from eight matches. Yanga have played eight matches less as compared to table leaders JKT Tanzania, who have garnered 28 points.

On the other hand, Simba are lying seventh position with 19 points, and they have played the same number of matches as their rivals Yanga.

Both Tanzanian giants were participating in the CAF Champions League but failed to make it to the knockout stages.

The President of Yanga Hersi Ally Said confirmed plans to construct the club’s long-awaited stadium at Jangwani have reached a significant milestone following the receipt of the project’s initial architectural design.

The club is targeting a stadium that falls between Category Three and Category Four under the classification guidelines of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

A Category Three stadium can host matches up to the quarter final stage of the CAF Champions League, while a Category Four facility is eligible to stage matches up to the final.
