However, Bullets caretaker coach Gilbert Chirwa had called for a cautious approach, aware that Dedza Dynamos are equally good.
“All I can say is that it is a cup game and a cup game is always difficult,” the coach told Bullets website.
Bullets, who are also called The People’s Team, reached the final after seeing off giant killers Ekwendeni City Hammers with a 2-0 victory courtesy of inspired Wongani Lungu’s brace.
However, while Lungu stepped up to the final to deliver the goods in the last-four stage, the journey of Chirwa’s men has largely been driven by the proficiency of striker Maxwell Gasten who is also called Phodo.
Gasten and Ephraim Kondowe are expected to lead the People’s Team frontline against the Central Region-based Dedza Dynamos.
Motivated by the sponsorship of prophet Shepherd Bushiri, Dedza Dynamos are writing their own piece of history, reaching the final against all odds.
Against Blue Eagles in the semifinal, Alex Ngwira’s side seemed to be heading for an exit after Micium Mhone had scored in the last 1-0 minutes.
However, what happened in the added time was pure drama. Dedza Dynamos equalised through Lanken Mwale to take the game straight into post-match penalties which they converted in unerring ease to dump over Eagles via a 4-3 scoreline.
Such a performance delivered a strong warning to Bullets that the final will not be a stroll in the park. The cup final will conclude all activities that spilled over from the 2025 season which should have ended in December.
Bullets are gunning for a second trophy of the season to add on to the Airtel Top 8 cup which they claimed under the reign of Peter Mponda before he was fired. Chirwa is holding fort as the hunt for the substantive replacement continues.
