Spanish club Celta Vigo have exercised the option to acquire Asante Kotoko forward Bernard Somuah Sarpong on a permanent deal.
Somuah, 20, who joined Celta Vigo on a long-term loan deal last year, impressed the technical team, prompting the Sky Blues to regularize his stay until 2030.
Asante Kotoko acquired the services of Somuah from Afigya Liberty on a three-year deal but his prowess was quickly noticed by the La Liga side who roped him into their Celta Juvenil A [U19]. He graduated to the club’s “B” team, Celta Fortuna, for an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
Celta Vigo announced the permanent signing of Bernard Somuah via their social media handles on Tuesday.

He made his debut in the Primera Federación (Spanish third tier), coming on in the opening day against Zamora CF. Since then, he has established himself as a regular starter in Fredi Álvarez’s lineup with Celta Fortuna.
Somuah scored 5 goals, contributing speed, dribbling skills, and decisiveness in one-on-one situations. His performances have been crucial in key moments of the season, such as in the historic comeback against Talavera at Barreiro, where he scored the winning goal in stoppage time.
He contributed to a high level performance this season as the club’s reserve team currently sit second in the standings with 48 points.
